Shopbop Jewellery Haul

I kinda went crazy with the 20% discount code on Shopbop last week and purchased two necklaces and a pair of earrings.

Juliet and Company
Lacet en Metal Necklace

This Juliet and Company necklace was worth the money spent. It's sturdy, luxurious looking and the gold is matted but it has a nice sheen to it.

House of Harlow 1960
Pyramid Station Necklace

I was very disappointed with the House of Harlow necklace being the most expensive out of the three. It felt very cheap and plastic. It felt like something I could purchase at a $5 jewellery store. Not happy. It will probably be the last time I purchase something from House of Harlow.
☆/ 5 stars (only because it looks nice).

Marc By Marc Jacobs
Pave Star Stud Earrings

I like Marc by Marc Jacobs studs, these are cute and simple. Not much else I can add except it was an extra 30%, woohoo!!

Tory Burch Robinson Double Zip Tote

Finally, after one month of waiting for a Shopbop code, there was a 20% discount code on the 17th and 18th of April. I could not miss this golden opportunity because Shopbop only has discounts on full price merchandise twice a year.

I have been eyeing the Tory Burch handbag for over a month. You can't buy Tory Burch in Australia so I couldn't actually see what the bag looked like on me. But all I know is that I HAD TO BUY IT!

The Robinson Double Zip Tote does not disappoint. The Saffiano leather feels luxurious and worth more than its price tag. I love the two zip pockets on the sides which allows you to organise your belongings. I like the mini mirror they give you, its cute and handy. The size is great for those who like to carry their whole life in their bag.

However, there was some detailing that I personally didn't like about the bag. I was quite underwhelmed with the navy lining. It kinda felt like cheap cotton in comparison to the Marc by Marc Jacobs lining where the colours are more vibrant and the lining feels more durable. The crossover strap, functionality wise, I don't like where it is situated as it would easily break the bag from continued heavy usage. And personally the bag is a bit larger than expected since I have a small frame.

Don't get me wrong, overall, I totally do not regret my purchase. It's a great work bag which I'm sure I will be using for the next few years.

Has Fallen in Love with the......

Tory Burch Robinson Double Zip Tote

What I love about this bag is that it has a top handle and a long strap for you to put over your shoulder, it has three compartments and it's a Saffiano leather. It is very similar to the Prada Saffiano Tote but only 1/3 of its price. Must BUY this lovely bag in black, a very nice bag for work.

Red Lips

A bold red lip colour never goes out of date. A great statement lip colour if you want to spice up any look.

I'm wearing the Guerlain KissKiss #523 Exces de Rouge. A highly pigmented red lip colour, long lasting, moisturising and luxurious. Too bad these lipstick comes with a hefty price tag. But I highly recommend them, they're worth every penny!!

WongFu Productions in Sydney

When WongFu first released news about a South East Asia and Australia tour, I couldn't believe what I was hearing....WongFu in Sydney, NO WAY!! After watching their vlogs of their various tours in the University's in the United States, I couldn't believe that they were actually coming to Australia in the flesh. Knowing myself, I couldn't miss this golden opportunity, I bought tickets and dragged my sister along (mind you she doesn't know much about WongFu). A word of note, I'm not a die hard fan girl who screams and swoons over them i.e. like some teebees in the show, I'm here to listen them talk about their work not to hear you screaming for them. I am just just a fan who appreciates their amazing and inspiring work.

History
I started following their youtube videos late 2009. I had previously stumbled across their "Just A Nice Guy" video, with no idea that WongFu existed . It was then after I started to browse and watch all their videos and really enjoyed watching them especially their weekly vlogs.

Its great to see the personalities behind the camera who create such simple but meaningful videos. That's what I love about these guys, they take such a simple and an everyday concept and make it into something much more. I think youtube is such a excellent and innovative tool in connecting to the audience and making the viewing experience much more personable.

WongFu @ UNSW 04/03/2012
Anyways, enough of my constant blabber and back to the main topic of this post.

When I first arrived at UNSW, the line was ridiculously long and I was an hour early......like wtf. No surprise, 95% of the attendees were Asian and young. It took over an hour to actually get into the venue and be seated...gahhh.

Yup I was sitting at the back :(

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: just before I was about to go in (mind you I was literally at the end of the line)  Wesley Chan poked his head out to talk to one of the volunteers of the event. I yelled out "HI" and he said hi back. Awesome!! One on one interaction and I didn't even need to pay for the meet and greet tickets, lol.

Different angles to give some variety to the photos

I wanted an awkward penguin :(

It was was an awesome, enjoyable and inspirational show with a few laughs here and there. It was great to see Ted and his cat towards the end of the show. I'm exited to see their future projects and will proudly support them in their future endeavours.

Hi Ted!

Haha Ted's seedy smile?

And the Best Man is ....

Thank you WongFu for entertaining me with your enjoyable videos and making me look forward to the next whenever I see a new video in my subscriptions list. And also giving an opportunity to your international fans to see you live and in person. WONGFU 4 LYFE!!

How Easy It Is To Forget

We can choose our friends but we cannot choose our family.

We sometimes take our family for granted.

Family is forever.

So Pretty ❤

I was around playing with my camera and couldn't resist taking photos of these tulips and roses. Such vibrant colours. Happy Belated Valentine's Day 2012.

Back to My Passion

Designing and sewing garments has always been a hobby that I have enjoyed in my high school years. I had even taken up Textiles and Design from years 9 to 12 in High School and had seriously planned a future career in this industry. However, as a result of suffering the gruelling Major Textiles Project, competitiveness, high amounts of stress, and lack of job opportunities in this industry, I gave up my dreams of becoming a fashion designer.

I studied Accounting in University because it was a "safe occupation", which I do not regret because I wanted to become an Accountant as well when I was in year 6 (I remember writing in my yearbook that I wanted to become an Accountant or Fashion Designer). I'm pretty surprised that I'm still sticking with my desired careers for over 10 years. I should get a gold star for my persistence :)

Over the past 5 years, I had forgotten my passion for designing and sewing garments, which is pretty sad because when I sewed, I was in another world. I could spend countless of hours sewing, unpicking my mistakes, hemming and cutting.

After watching bubzbeauty's video, it inspired me to return to my favourite hobby. Thanks bubz!!

Here are some snaps of me altering the hem length of my clothes. Btw, that Pfaff sewing machine you see there, is probably as old as me.

My pin cushion which I made from leftover material and an elastic band

So here's my first challenge of 2012: to recreate Taeyeon from SNSD's dress worn in an Athena Concert in Osaka from scratch. Just a word of note, I have never created any garment from scratch.

I will update you with my progress from time to time. This will probably take months as I work full-time during the week. So here goes, I need all the luck possible because I don't know how long this will take.

Lets welcome in the New Year 2012!

2012 New Years Fireworks taken at Blues Point Reserve, Sydney

As I look back on 2011, I look back the achievements and moments that have been special and made 2011 such a great year to reminisce. Such achievements include obtaining my first full-time job in April. Even though its not what I originally wanted, its still a stepping stone to my career with the benefits of a friendly team and environment.

One special moment is my trip to Guangzhou and Hong Kong in late November and early December. After 5 years, I finally returned to see my mother's family. Much things have changed in Guangzhou since I last remembered. I can see why China is the fastest growing country in the world. The country keeps changing every year with work site constructions seen everywhere, gigantic shopping centres esp in Hong Kong and an efficient public transport system. After going to China, it has heightened my urge to travel around the world. I'm planning to go back to Hong Kong, Guangzhou in December-January and also want to visit Japan.

Photo taken at Sky Plaza Hotel in Guangzhou, China

I don't really make New Years Resolutions every year, but as I'm older I understand why people do. So here are my resolutions for 2012.
  1. Be successful in my career i.e. salary raise and promotion
  2. Travel to China and Japan
  3. Save over $10k for future mortgage
  4. Find love
  5. Be wiser and mature
  6. Sign up to a gym and go regularly
  7. Make new friends
  8. Be nicer to my family
  9. Start the CA program
  10. Stop being lazy (that's a difficult one)
Good luck to me!
